Financial Check Up at ECU

Proudly presenting the new Financial Check Up at Estonian Credit Union.

Beginning in 2014 with ECU’s 60th anniversary, we launched a financial literacy initiative which focused on helping educate and empower our members. This has been done through providing free financial seminars, financial content and resources on our website. We have also continued this outreach to the younger generations, through visits to the local Estonian Schools and scouts and guides.

As we celebrate our 65th anniversary, we continue our financial education initiative with the Financial Check Up.

The Financial Check Up gives you the opportunity to sit down with a member of our team and go through a quick questionnaire, which covers all of your basic financial needs. It’s an opportunity for you to get a clear picture on your finances and your current financial plan.

  • The Check Up is a conversation to help you start thinking about your finances. It is not financial advising.
  • Expect the conversation to take 30 minutes or less.
  • The Financial Check Up provides you peace of mind, giving you the chance to reflect on your needs and objectives.
  • The Check Up can be done one-on-one or with members of your family, however you feel most comfortable.
  • The Financial Check Up is free for our members and can be done via Skype or phone if needed!

Although the Financial Check Up is not financial advising, it still gives you the opportunity to have a fresh look at your finances and ask any questions that are on your mind. Talking to someone else about your finances helps. As per Mackenzie Investments, “According to a groundbreaking research reference study, advised households have approximately twice the level of financial assets as their non-advised counterparts, and this advantage grows over time. Studies confirm that Canadians who rely on advice to guide their financial decisions report high levels of satisfaction and trust in their advisor, and credit their advisor with helping them achieve better savings and investment habits.”

As part of our launch, we asked all of the ECU team members to have their own Financial Check Up. Here’s what one of our Member Service Representatives had to say:

“Speaking with Liisi for half an hour was really helpful to me. She asked questions that made me think about things I hadn’t thought of, let me know about products I wasn’t aware of, and helped make a strategy for attaining both my short term and long term financial goals. Unpacking my finances with someone other than my partner gave me a fresh perspective. Having just bought my first house, and needing to plan a wedding I left the meeting feeling much better than I did going into it!”

ECU is committed to helping our members become financially knowledgeable and secure. We are proud and excited to launch this new product to our members, just another benefit of being an owner of ECU.
